"My name is Tori, and my peer Kendall and I are organizing a panel discussion on May 7th centered around critical dance curation, called "Gender Violence in Dance: Where are we now?." After watching the performance of a Nacho Duato work, Violoncello, by Hubbard Street Dance at Northrop in January, we were enraged by the blatant misogyny and objectification of the woman in the duet. We sent letters to the head of curation at Northrop, and through these conversations we have organized this public discussion, which will be in the Ellie and Tom Crosby Seminar Room at Northrop from 3:30-5:00 on Monday, May 7. - Research Briefs
Research Briefs
Research Briefs are used to help amplify published research from U of M System faculty. Our hope is to widely share how they are tackling the world’s biggest challenges and the issues important to Minnesota.Research Briefs - with all the same elements of a news release - are a short and concise 350-500 word summary of research that has been published in a journal and linked online. The Research Brief is written by faculty with the goal of making their work understandable to a lay audience.Similar to news releases, the News Service distributes Research Briefs to targeted local, state and national media, posts them to the News & Events website and shares on social media. An online form is now available to easily guide researchers when summarizing their published work. The form has limited space to keep the briefs short and concise.Research Briefs have resulted in several media interviews and stories, including this recent StarTribune article on the Medical School’s opioid vaccine research. You can find previous Research Briefs here. Please feel free to share the online form with your faculty and, as always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.612-625-8431
brobidea@umn.edu - Change.org Petition to Raise Student Worker Wages
Undergrad United's fist campaign is to support the increase of student worker minimum wages to $15. The City of Minneapolis recently raised the wage to $15, but the University will unfortunately be exempt from this increase. Here you can find more information on the campaign.
